Just above Sacre Coeur basilica, on the Butte
Montmartre, rests a charming square named "Place du Tertre".
Since the 19th century, this place is an important place for
painting. You can see there painters, caricaturists, and portrait
artists working. If you like paintings and are a little curious,
ask the artists to show you something else that they show to
tourists! Place du Tertre has a village-like atmosphere. To
feel it, come in the calm early-morning hours. During the day,
you'll find a crowd, with the people-watchers sitting and sipping
on café terraces, which is not without interest. Not far away,
you'll find the last vineyard the Butte kept, and near it, the
famous cabaret "Le lapin Agile".
